(Summer Planning) What is the annual summer curriculum and budget process?

Curriculum planning begins fall quarter when the EVC sends the summer curriculum call (which includes a funding allocation) to the college/school/divisional deans who, in turn, work with their respective departments to identify the courses to be offered as well as instructors.

Once plans and budgets are approved by the EVC, the Office of Summer Sessions is responsible for generating all instructor and TA appointment letters and making payroll entries into the Payroll/Personnel System (PPS). This begins in March.

Reader appointments are entered by departments, charging the expense to an appropriated departmental account with a 20293 fund number. At the end of summer, departments are asked to submit a request for reimbursement to Summer Sessions.
